Vector Database Engineer

Vector Database Engineers build and maintain vector search and storage systems that enable semantic similarity search, retrieval-augmented generation, and recommendation systems at scale. They work with embedding models, approximate nearest neighbor algorithms, and vector database platforms such as Pinecone, Weaviate, and pgvector, optimizing indexing strategies and query performance for production AI applications. This specialized database engineering role has emerged with the RAG paradigm in 2023-2026.
