Orthotist and Prosthetist

Orthotists and Prosthetists design, fabricate, and fit orthopedic braces and prosthetic limbs for patients with physical disabilities or following amputations, combining clinical assessment, biomechanical analysis, and technical fabrication skills to optimize patient function and quality of life. BLS projects 13.3% growth in this occupation by 2034, with aging populations and increased diabetes-related amputations driving demand. Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) or European equivalents is standard.
